Special Education K-12 Endorsement

The Special Education K-12 Endorsement requires 38-42 graded credit hours from the graduate courses listed below.
A minimum grade of a “C” is required in all courses & a minimum 3.00 GPA overall is required to complete the endorsement.
Students must demonstrate average or higher levels of competency in all areas indicated on the Special Educator Competency Evaluation form, as rated by University and site supervisors. [Online only endorsement]
The ORELA - Special Education Test must be passed prior to recommendation of endorsement. Official scores must be sent to EOU.
Teachers who possess a teaching license pursue their interests and professional objectives in the field of special education with this endorsement. The Special Educator Endorsement program is designed to provide comprehensive training and experience to prepare teachers of learners with disabilities for state licensure. Coursework, field experience, and practica are balanced within the program to meet individual teacher preparation needs. The Special Educator Endorsement prepares teachers to teach exceptional learners at the early childhood/elementary and/or the middle/high school level.
The Special Educator Endorsement Program is offered through a cohort model over six terms and is designed to meet the needs of working professionals. Coursework completed for the Special Educator Endorsement may be applied toward the Master of Science degree in Education.
